Wollemi Press is an independent children’s publishing imprint based in the Blue Mountains, Australia.
Download the 2025 Wollemi Press catalogue Established by children’s author Jodie McLeod, this tiny publishing house was created with the purpose of being the umbrella imprint for Jodie’s books, and hopefully books by others in the future. The Black Cockatoo With One Feather Blue, a CBCA Notable Picture Book by Jodie and illustrated by Eloise Short, is Wollemi Press’s first official publication (buy signed copies and make stockist enquiries) with the next book – The 12 Birds of Christmas – just released in October, 2025. Jodie and Eloise’s previous books – the award-winning Leonard the Lyrebird and its follow-up, Lilah the Lyrebird, will also be taken under the wing of Wollemi Press, though will remain catalogued on the NLA as published by King Street Press and Jodie McLeod respectively. Wollemi Press operates on the shared land of the Dharug and Gundungurra traditional owners. |

Stories Worth SharingThe MO of Wollemi Press is to publish stories worth sharing.
“As a mother of two young daughters, I have read so many children’s books. Some are just incredible, and some – as I’m sure many parents would agree – make you wonder... My goal is to only write and publish stories that I feel need to be shared; stories that, because of whatever it is that makes them special – be it their sense of fun, their characters or their beautiful message – simply refuse to sit still; refuse to be untold. Wollemi Press is named after the Wollemi Pine - a very rare and ancient pine tree native to the Blue Mountains, where I live and where my first two children’s books are set. The Darug word wollemi means “Stop, look around you; be aware of your environment,” which I also feel is one of the main functions of children’s books - the way they invite children to pause for a few minutes, absorb a world of words and pictures, and then re-look at their own world with a renewed sense of themselves and their surroundings. I hope you enjoy these stories as much as I have loved creating them.” ~ Jodie McLeod |
